Month: December 2003

One last time

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that this will probably be the last update of 2003. What a year it’s been. I have actually put together some recaps of a few of the many new stories that made headlines this year. Of course you can always just scroll down this page and read for yourself, but where would the fun be in that. I’ll share the look back on 2003 sometime in the new year.

Thanks for putting up with me for yet another year… it’s been great having you come along on this ride. I’m happy to know that so many of you come back to see what I’m doing, what I’ve been up to and what I’ll do next. I hope that during my time off from writing a weekly column I’ll still find ways to entertain you and to make this site interesting. I’m sure something will happen in 2004. Besides, you all come here for the stimulating updates, diary entries and because you love to see what I’ve been doing, right?

Anyway, with only hours remaining in 2003, it’s been fun with it’s highs and lows… many good times, a few tears along the way, new friends, old friends and the road ahead. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King is great if you get the chance to see it… Jennifer Whorepez still sucks… Rock the Vote in 2004… Go Devils!…

Stay Happy, Healthy and Fertile… see you on the other side!

‘Twas the night before Christmas…

A few years ago, my mother said to me that she felt she “nearly missed Christmas” one year. I didn’t know what that meant back then, but now that I’ve gotten older, I can see how the stress of life sometimes gets in the way of the holiday and all the fun. When we’re young, Christmas is everything to us, some however, lose their feelings for the day sooner than others.

The last Christmas my family spent together wasn’t the best. But the year before sure was. We were all together and it was the last time we all sat down as a family. It was my senior year of High School and I could still feel the Christmas spirit. Years later, when I was away at college in Montreal, I sort of felt it again, but that was the last time.

We all get too caught up in the rush of our own lives and forget that the holidays are coming. Some think that starting too early will ruin the magic of Christmas, but the they wait too long and miss it all together. Most of the time, it’s letting things get you down as they have done with me this year. I let myself get into a rut and frankly, I don’t feel very festive.

My words to you this holiday… don’t be like me. Stay happy and find even the little things in life that make you smile. When someone or something brings you down, just stay on top of it and try not to let it over take your life. Maybe, if you try and see the glass half full instead of always half empty, you won’t be like me and lose the Christmas spirit. Maybe you will be able to keep it all year ’round.

All the best to you and yours… stay in good health and in good spirits all year. Merry Christmas to all… and yes, to all a good night.

John Lennon 3:16

I think John Lennon said it best when he said “So this is Christmas, and what have you done? Another year over, a new one just begun.” That pretty much sums it up in my opinion. Who knew that some rock star who had bad taste in women would be able to sum up how a lot of people feel with two simple lines, turning it into one of the greatest Christmas songs ever.

We are just days, maybe hours if you want to measure it that way, away from Christmas. I’ll probably blog again right before Christmas, but just in case I don’t, I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah and wish you all the best in the new year.

I hope 2004 brings many good memories for you.

See you soon

I’ve been talking a lot about taking time off , sharing some very outspoken thoughts to friends and colleagues about my sabbatical and how I feel towards some people. Don’t worry folks, it’s not over for good… just for now. I’ll keep updating my site and my diary, but the columns are getting a rest for the time being.

As the old saying goes “I’m not saying goodbye… I’m just saying, see ya soon” Whatever that means… but I think you get the idea.

Almost at year’s end

Closer and closer to the end of the year. I just have a few more things to write and then that’s it. Much needed time off and a huge rethink when it comes to everything else. Toronto has been and will continue to be great to me. But maybe only now I’m learning that it was more fun to live here and enjoy the city as a play ground in 1997 and 1998 than it is when one actually has to work in it. Or maybe I’m in the wrong line of work.

I don’t think that’s it seeing as I love to write, but lately I just haven’t felt like doing much other than relaxing and maybe some shopping now and again. But don’t let me bring you down! Enjoy this time of year and the million tons of snow that has fallen on the East Coast (but not here in Toronto)

Blogging

I’m updating using my laptop and it stinks! For some reason, I don’t have Microsoft Front Page on this thing, and I don’t know why! I have become lazy, er to used to, using Front Page and now I have to do it the old way. Should have “blogged” before. (Do you really think that term is going to catch on? Can you really see people years from now telling people that they are “bloggers”?)

Not much else to report. End of the year is almost here. There is also a fair-share of Christmas parties left to go to, but I’m running out of festive holiday things to wear. Maybe I should get one of those super tacky Reindeer sweaters like in Bridget Jones’ Diary.

Snow time!

It’s cold outside. That sucks. The city of Toronto woke up to snow on the ground and very cold temperature today. I guess winter is here. I did manage to get all my decorations up and most of my shopping done today.

The delays in getting the new pages added is really starting to piss me off now. I know my HTML skills aren’t the best, but something else has to be wrong here. I have also been seeing the end of the year creep up on me and it reminds me that I have some time off coming to me soon. Yah!
